What is the BRL?

The Business Readiness Level (BRL) shows how far you’ve developed, tested, and validated your business model – from raw ideas (Level 1) to a scalable, profitable structure (Level 9).

The 9 BRL Stages at a Glance BRL Description

BRL 1–2 - Business idea drafted, vague market understanding

BRL 3 - Business Model Canvas filled in roughly

BRL 4 - First revenue & cost projections (bottom-up)

BRL 5–6 - First customer testing, pricing validated

BRL 7 - Clear product-market fit, validated financials

BRL 8–9 - Scalable, profitable business model in action
